Controller – Agriculture / Farming

Stardom Employment Consultants is seeking a hands-on Controller for an agriculture and farming company in the Lemoore area / Tulare County region. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function, strengthen financial processes, and work closely with leadership to support business decisions.

The ideal candidate understands the financial demands of agricultural operations, including seasonal cash flow, farming costs, and operational profitability. Experienced Controllers and strong Accounting Managers ready to step into a Controller role are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Manage cash flow planning, budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Monitor farming costs, seasonal expenses, and operating results to identify trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Partner with leadership and operations teams to provide clear financial insights and practical recommendations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks and Famous.
• Establish and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting practices.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs and tax professionals on year-end reporting, tax preparation, and related requests.
• Guide accounting staff and support accountability, accuracy, and timely completion of work.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve the quality of financial information.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience within agriculture, farming, or closely related agricultural operations.
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager with responsibility for core accounting functions.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Famous.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Experience with agricultural cost accounting, budgeting, and seasonal cash flow planning.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to interpret financial data and explain results clearly.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to manage both detailed accounting tasks and higher-level financial responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work on-site in the Lemoore area / Tulare County region.
