About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a privately held, established food manufacturing organization in the Central Valley seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on finance professional with strong manufacturing, inventory, and operational accounting experience.
Compensation: $175,000-$200,000 + up to 20% annual bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting operations
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Manage inventory accounting, cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Monitor margins, manufacturing costs, labor, overhead, and operational performance
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, and working capital
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Partner closely with executive and operational leadership on financial planning and business decisions
- Provide financial analysis related to production, profitability, pricing, and operational efficiencies
- Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and outside accounting relationships
- Oversee and develop accounting team members
- Support ERP improvements, reporting enhancements, and process automation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or similar leadership experience
- Strong preference for food manufacturing, manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, or related industry experience
- Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances
- Experience leading month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis experience
- Experience managing and developing accounting teams
- Strong ERP and advanced Excel skills
- CPA or CMA preferred, but not required
- Ability to work closely with ownership, executive leadership, and operations
