Financial Controller

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a privately held, established food manufacturing organization in the Central Valley seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on finance professional with strong manufacturing, inventory, and operational accounting experience.

Compensation: $175,000-$200,000 + up to 20% annual bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting operations
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, budgets, and forecasts
• Manage inventory accounting, cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
• Monitor margins, manufacturing costs, labor, overhead, and operational performance
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, and working capital
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Partner closely with executive and operational leadership on financial planning and business decisions
• Provide financial analysis related to production, profitability, pricing, and operational efficiencies
• Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and outside accounting relationships
• Oversee and develop accounting team members
• Support ERP improvements, reporting enhancements, and process automation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or similar leadership experience
• Strong preference for food manufacturing, manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, or related industry experience
• Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances
• Experience leading month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis experience
• Experience managing and developing accounting teams
• Strong ERP and advanced Excel skills
• CPA or CMA preferred, but not required
• Ability to work closely with ownership, executive leadership, and operations
