Primary Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Accurately enter and maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions
  • Review timesheets, timekeeping records, and payroll reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, retro pay, garnishments, and benefits deductions
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations, ensuring payroll registers tie to the general ledger
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee information
  • Assist with month-end and year-end payroll processes, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Support preparation of W-2s, payroll tax filings, and related reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting or payroll preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in a payroll clerk or payroll support role
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and payroll deductions
  • Experience with payroll systems and timekeeping software
  • Proficiency in Excel and basic reporting (formulas, data entry, reconciliation)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
