Job Summary:
The Controller in the organic food manufacturing industry plays a pivotal role in financial management, directly influencing the fiscal health and operational efficacy of the organization. Serving as the chief accounting officer, this position is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Controller ensures that senior management is kept informed of the organization’s financial status, thus enabling informed decision-making that aligns with strategic business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
Oversee the preparation of periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries.
Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
Streamline accounting functions and operations, developing a robust internal control framework.
Manage budgets and control expenses to ensure the organization is aligned with its financial objectives.
Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
Develop strategies to minimize financial risk.
Coordinate auditing processes to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
Direct financial planning and strategy analyses and provide feedback and advice to the executive management team.
Tasks and Duties:
Supervise and lead the accounting team activities.
Conduct regular ledger maintenance and reconciliation of accounts.
Schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
Set up and monitor financial controls and protocols that comply with accepted accounting practices (AAP).
Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis.
Education and Certification Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is essential.
Professional accountancy qualification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of accounting software and databases.
Proven experience in finance management and accounting roles, particularly in a similar industry or manufacture, with a minimum of five to seven years of financial management experience.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
