Job Overview: The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting practices and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization and supporting our clients’ financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Management

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records: This involves keeping detailed records of all financial transactions, ensuring that every entry is precise and current. This includes maintaining ledgers, journals, and other financial documents.

Record financial transactions: Accountants must document all financial activities, such as income, expenses, and asset management. This ensures that the financial status of the company is always clear and traceable.

Reconcile bank statements: Regularly comparing the company’s financial records with bank statements to ensure consistency and accuracy. This helps in identifying any discrepancies or errors that need to be addressed.

Manage accounts payable and receivable: Ensuring that the company pays its bills on time and collects payments from clients promptly. This involves tracking invoices, processing payments, and managing cash flow.

Maintain organized records: Keeping all financial documents and transactions well-organized and easily accessible. This is crucial for audits, financial reviews, and compliance with legal requirements.

Financial Reporting

Prepare financial statements: Creating monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. These documents provide a snapshot of the company’s financial health.

Analyze financial statements: Reviewing financial reports to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. This analysis helps in making informed business decisions.

Provide detailed financial reports: Presenting comprehensive financial reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key metrics and insights. This ensures that decision-makers have the information they need to guide the company effectively.

Ensure compliance with GAAP: Making sure that all financial reports adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations. This ensures accuracy and reliability in financial reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in budget development: Helping to create annual budgets and financial forecasts. This involves working with various departments to gather necessary information and ensure that the budget aligns with the company’s goals.

Monitor budget performance: Tracking actual financial performance against the budget and providing variance analysis. This helps in identifying any deviations and taking corrective actions.

Collaborate with department heads: Working closely with different departments to ensure they adhere to their budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings. This collaboration is essential for effective financial management.

Prepare financial projections: Creating financial projections to support strategic planning and decision-making. These projections help in anticipating future financial needs and opportunities.

Tax Compliance and Planning:
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for the company and clients.
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines.
Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on tax strategies to minimize liabilities.
Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Internal Controls and Auditing:
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Conduct regular audits of financial records and processes to identify and mitigate risks.
Prepare audit documentation and support external auditors during annual audits.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Financial Analysis and Advisory:
Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for business improvement.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses and financial modeling to support business decisions.
Advise management on financial strategies, including investment opportunities and risk management.
Provide financial guidance to clients, helping them achieve their financial goals.
Client Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their financial needs and provide tailored solutions.
Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients.
Conduct regular client meetings to review financial performance and address any concerns.
Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality financial services and maintaining open lines of communication.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
