Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing the financial operations within the company. This role involves handling administrative tasks to ensure proper financial documentation, preparing financial statements, and confirming the accuracy of accounting database information. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up new vendors in the accounting software.
Review and process invoices, ensuring accurate coding, appropriate approvals, and timely payment.
Prepare the weekly check run and process electronic ACH payments.
Maintain positive communications with vendors and respond to inquiries promptly.
Manage the annual preparation and reporting for all 1099 forms.
Prepare, process, and manage invoices to ensure timely and accurate collections.
Monitor customer account details for non-payment, delayed payment, or other irregularities.
Investigate and resolve customer queries.
Reconcile AP/AR transactions and statements to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
Conduct audits to ensure financial operations are accurate and efficient.
Collaborate with project managers to evaluate financial progress and projections.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
