Corporate Controller
Agriculture Industry
The Corporate Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and financial reporting for a dynamic company within the agriculture industry. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains compliance with regulatory standards. The Controller will play a key role in managing financial operations across farming, production, and distribution activities, while driving process improvements and supporting the company’s growth in a seasonal and asset-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry-specific standards.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and financial consultants.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial risk; provide strategic recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional development and high performance.
- Support M&A activities, financial modeling, and due diligence as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and reporting requirements, including agriculture-specific tax considerations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in corporate accounting and financial management, preferably within agriculture or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, seasonal business environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
